Movie Night

We rented this movie last night and William was SOOOO cute watching it. He loved all the dogs. Whenever the dogs were not on he would say "where dog go?" and when the dogs came back he said, "there's dogs!!!" I think I had more fun watching him than the movie.

He just gets cuter and cuter everyday!

We also rented "the day the earth stood still" for after the kids went to bed and it isn't worth putting a picture up for. You know a movie is bad when you keep looking at your watch thinking, "will this ever end?"

OOPS!

Unfortunately, I posted too soon. The dryer was mistakenly given to someone else. :(

Oh well, we can still be happy about our $7 boots.

Blessings of Tithing

The last couple of months have been full of unexpected yet necessary costs that have left us feeling a little stressed about our dwindling savings.

Then yesterday a fellow teacher offered us a free gas dyer!!! WOO-HOO! (Ours has been on its last leg for awhile now.)

And then today I took Robert boot shopping (the Dr. said that would be the best shoes for him.) and found some at Kohls on clearance for $7. Again, WOO-HOO!

A Wonderful Day

In Robert's words yesterday was "a wonderful day", and I wholeheartedly agree.

He got his casts off and is walking GREAT!!! Last week when they took them off he was still on his toes a little, but now he has full range of motion and no more toe walking!!!! It is so much fun to watch him run around.

He got his braces and will wear them for increments during the day for a few days then start sleeping in them.

And another reason yesterday was wonderful....it was my last scheduled apt until JULY! It has been like 3 months since I have had a week with no doctor or dentist apts. I'm sure things will come up between now and then, but just knowing that there is nothing scheduled makes me very happy.

Robert enjoyed his bath last night very much, and I enjoyed having a clean little boy again!

KA-BOOM

That is what could have happened after Robert somehow got the key for the gas fireplace and turned it on. We noticed this last night when we were playing outside and smelled gas.

A visit from the gas company revealed that the fireplace had been running for at least a couple of days. Luckily all the gas went straight up the chimney.

Oh yeah, that's gonna be one pretty gas bill!

And when David and I were trying to figure out how Robert got the key he said, "Oh, it was easy. I just climbed on the couch then this and reached up here."

He went from the couch to the video cabinet three feet away from the couch and grabbed the key from the fireplace mantel another 2 feet away. And this is with casts on both feet! So it is official, unless something has a padlock on it there is no safe place in this house!

But we have found a pretty good hiding place for that key.

Fun in the Tub

William has been enjoying his baths lately! I think these last few weeks have been the first time he has ever had the bath to himself!

Spiderman

Yesterday was another trip to LA and another set of casts! This time there was no flat tire and no insurance problems! YEAH!!! He made major progress over the last week so this will be his last set of casts!!! We are thrilled!

And how cute are those Spiderman casts? Robert was a little bummed at the prospect of getting more casts until the guy told him he could make special Spiderman or Batman casts. Robert perked right up and was excited for his new casts!

Playing Shy

So I really wish I had a picture of William in nursery. The last few weeks he has done the funniest thing. When he first gets there he puts his hands in his pockets, looks down at the floor and just stands there. . . for about 15-20 minutes!!!! And I am not exaggerating! He stands like that until it is time for snack!

And this is with David in the room.

I should seriously sneak in my video camera!

ain't nothin gonna slow me down!

Last night David and Robert went to a Mavericks baseball game for the father and son's camp out. (After the game they pitched their tents in the outfield.) Robert positioned himself so he was sitting on the aisle seat and said "Hi" and gave a hi-5 to every person that walked by. He even got a few fist bumps! David thinks he talked to probably 200 people before the night was through!!!!

They had a rough patch when Robert's legs started hurting from too much running up and down a hill, but other than that they had a great time.

Us girls put William to bed and watched a movie. I'm looking forward to next year when David takes both boys. Then us girls will really party!!!

New Colors

We took another trip down to LA today and came back with new casts. One blue and one yellow this time. When the took the old casts off Robert said,

"My feelings think they don't want any more casts."

And when it was time to put the new ones on asked the guy if he could please have soft casts instead. Sorry bud, they don't come that way. He handled everything like a real trooper though.

He was also fitted for his braces and due to some sores on his feet we will be going back in one week instead of 2 to do it all over again.

Due to problems with our insurance and a flat tire on the way home we were gone much longer than anticipated. So I have to give a shout out to our friend Victoria for getting the girls to school and watching William for NINE HOURS today. Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!

This is one of the best days of the year! I am so grateful to all the mothers in my life. For my mom who raised me and is one of my best friends. My other mom who raised for me a wonderful husband. And to all the other moms that have impacted my life in amazing ways: grandmas, sisters, cross country coach, seminary teacher, and YW leaders. You have all helped me become who I am today. Thank you and HAPPY MOM'S DAY!

Growing up all I ever wanted was to be a mother. So, to my amazing children and husband, thank you for making my dreams come true!

A Backyard Adventure

David decided it was time to go camping. . . in the backyard!

We had tinfoil dinners, roasted marshmallows, and of course had s'mores! Yum! Robert, William and a fire didn't leave me with free hands to take many pics.

There is something very calming about a fire.

Anna and Alahna somehow ended up in the same sleeping bag!

And the best part of a backyard camp out? David slept in the tent and I got to sleep in my own bed!!!

Ride, Baby, Ride!

I have been taking an online photography class the last few weeks and have had a lot of fun taking LOTS of pictures. But this one of Lahna riding her bike is one of my favorites!

What a Trooper

Robert had his last dentist apt (until his next cleaning, anyway) and he was AWESOME! So good that they did the rest of his work instead of having us come in a third time. He cried a little in the beginning, but then relaxed and even fell asleep for the last 15 minutes.

I am sold on the sleeping gas. Do they give it to adults???

Why Little Boys Shouldn't Wear Casts

These are going to be some seriously stinky feet!

Tooth Fairy Surprise

A definite perk of motherhood is the honor of being a tooth fairy. Yesterday Lahna lost a tooth that had been hanging on forever and she left a note with her tooth for the tooth fairy, whom I might add is a very forgetful fairy who often has to pay extra for her teeth to ease her guilty conscience and has a very good helper who saves her hiney when little girls are crying at the breakfast table and the forgetful fairy is sitting at the hospital. Whew, that was a seriously long run on sentence. Anyway... her letter said.....

Dear Tooth Fairy,

I hope you are well!

Are you a mother?

If you are, Happy Mother's Day. I know it's early but I might not see you for awhile so why not wish you a Happy Mothers day now?

Sincerely,
Alahna

Isn't that the sweetest thing!
I LOVE BEING A MOM!!!

And just so you know, she knows who the real tooth fairy is, but likes to pretend she doesn't!

Super Cool New Black . . .

Robert went to the orthopedists today and he came home with some new black shoes. He could have picked any color of the rainbow but all he wanted was black. I had him pretty convinced that they were really cool at first, but after about 30 minutes he was onto me and said, "soft shoes are much better." He's really quite cute walking around in them!

So, the plan is to wear these for a week then have them removed, stretch out his feet and put new casts on for 2 weeks. After that they will either cast him for another 1-3 weeks or send him home with braces to wear at night.

As always, he was a great patient! The most he did was whimper a little. The guy was amazed at how cooperative he was. (if only he was that cooperative with me. Hmmmmm.)

The Hiding Place

So I had book club this week at my house and I have to tell you about the book we read.

It is the true story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family during WWII. They risk everything to help the Jews. They are discovered by the Germans, arrested, and find themselves in a concentration camp. The amazing part of their story is their unwavering faith. They are able to find the good in the most horrifying situations and even have pity for their captors. Aside from the scriptures, it is the most inspirational book I have ever read. Its pages are full of hope, faith , and countless quotes to live by. If you have never read it go buy it today! Don't even bother with the library, because you will want a copy of your own to read again and again.

A Goal Set

So for FHE we told the kids about our service idea and at first they were just thinking "we'll be pulling weeds for the rest of our lives". But then they started to catch on and get excited.

So, our goal is 100hrs.

Our destination when we reach our goal......

Yup, Disneyland! Hey, we like to think big around here!
