DON'T EAT THE BABY!

Today in church there was a baby blessing and I whispered to Robert,
"Look they are going to bless the baby."

his response . . .

"They're going to eat it!"

Another week, Another copay

We have been spending far too much time in doctor's offices lately. Today was Alahna's turn. Turns out her cough is bronchitis. At least now we know why she has been so cranky!

Day 4

We have had three straight days of dry pants for Robert! And so far today is looking good!
(This includes bedtime!)
YAA-HOOOO ROBERT!

A Slow Sunday

This morning Robert asked me if it was Fast Sunday.

I told him no and his response was, "Oh it's a slow Sunday."

I wish! With 4 kids, David in the bishopric, and me in the primary presidency there is no such thing as a "slow Sunday"

By the way, Robert stayed dry all day! WHOOPEE!!!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Here are some things that happened this week.

THE GOOD

Parent teacher conferences. I love hearing how well they are doing! Keep up the good work girls!

LuLu got her new glasses. Aren't they cute? Notice the fancy trim on the side, that is her favorite part! (She only has to wear them for reading.)

Robert had a break through moment! He discovered he can move his tongue! It has been a year since he had surgery on it and we have been waiting for this moment! He was about to brush his teeth one night when he said, "Hey, I can do it!" He moved it up and down and side to side!

William is feeling better and is our happy little boy again!

THE BAD

Cleaned up lots of pee and poop. (We are starting to see some progress though)

Anna's soccer team lost 5-0. Maybe it is due to their highly inexperienced coaches!

THE UGLY

Well, Robert is way to cute to really call ugly, but can you tell what is all over his face? Yup, that is mascara.

BAD IDEA

So I was thinking that a month after surgery was probably long enough and I didn't want to spend anymore $$$ on diapers so yesterday we started potty training Robert . . . again. But as I was cleaning a huge puddle of pee off my KITCHEN COUNTER I thought this is a very, very bad idea!! Diapers aren't really that expensive, right?

Please someone tell me that this is one of those moments I will look back on and laugh about.

And am I really going to miss this someday?

Stinkbug

William has been such a little stink lately. His nickname of "Crybaby William" (from the Junie B. Jones books) has fit him very well the last week and a half. A trip to good ol' Doc Sharma today revealed that an ear infection is the cause. This is his first ever ear infection and antibiotics! That's a pretty healthy kid, I'd say!

For those of you thinking, "who would nickname their kid Crybaby William?" The girls started it when he was a baby and cried . . .and cried . . . and cried!

And, everyone seems to have recovered from yesterday quite nicely!

Wake Up Call

There is nothing like waking up at 3am to the sound of a child crying and then being hit with the lovely smell of vomit. Yup, that was our night. So far it has only been Alahna and Robert and we're crossing our fingers that it stays that way.

Robert showed no signs of being sick until at lunch when he laid his head down on the table for a few seconds, looked at me and threw up his lunch. Afterward he calmly looked down and said, "it's all over my clothes." I wanted to laugh, but I was too busy gagging. You would think with 4 kids and the amount of puke I have cleaned up in the last 9 years it wouldn't bother me, but I swear it gets worse every time. This is one part of motherhood I will certainly not miss!

Game 1

Anna had her first soccer game today, they won 2-1. She played hard and had fun and Mom and Dad survived coaching their first game! David did most the coaching though, as I was chasing William.

The Monkey

I went to check on the boys playing outside and this is what I found. I just happened to have my camera so I snapped a quick pic. Can you tell he is barefoot? I can't believe he didn't get a foot full of splinters! He has always been my little monkey. Before he was 2 he could climb on top of the fridge, the van and just about anywhere else you could imagine!

YEAH for Lahna!

Here is Lahna with her poster and ribbon! She was so proud of herself . . . and so are Mom and Dad!
Good Job LuLu!

Baffled and Disapointed

I don't know what to think. Robert has been up crying the last 2 nights because his leg hurt. I was really hoping that those days were behind us, but now I am wondering what does it mean? His back is still swollen so maybe it is just the swelling mimicking the tethered cord? We were told that could happen. (and, should it still be swollen?) Could it be from the toe walking which hasn't changed at all? Or, could it be that the pain was never related to the tethered cord. AHHH! I had really gotten my hopes up when he had several good nights.

Ahh well . . . such is life, right?

My Little Love Bug

Robert climbed in my lap today, gave me a big hug and said, "Mommy, you know what? I love you SOOOO much. I love you because you help me and you play with me and I will love you so much all day."

These are the moments that make it all worth while!

A face only a mother could love

This is how William looked when he came in from the backyard yesterday. EWW YUCK!

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Oh William

So, yesterday we spent the first half of the day in the urgent care center. William had gotten his foot twisted up in the railing on the stairs (with a little help from big brother) and wouldn't put any wait on it. Luckily the x-rays came back fine and by the end of the day he was walking with only a slight limp. Today he seems back to normal!

Life is never boring with 4 kids!

And yes, David and I are coaching Anna's soccer team. It turns out I know a little more about soccer than he does. It's a shock, I know. I guess all those years of watching Kimberly and playing in the backyard have finally paid off.

Some Highlights

Here are some of today's highlights.

Anna FINALLY passing off her math facts test!

Anna failing her 2nd trimester benchmark test. Oops! (She says,"remember I just passed my math facts test", before she showed us the benchmark test.)

Alahna getting 3rd place in a community wide poster contest!

Alahna crying hysterically because the awards ceremony is Sunday during stake conference.

William screaming all through dinner. Why, you ask? Who knows!

And so Robert doesn't feel left out. . . he wore his patch 5 hours straight today!!!

And a highlight from yesterday was Anna's first soccer practice in the freezing cold. Guess who's coaching?

Sometimes I just don't think I am cut out for all the drama of parenting.

Stinkin' Patch

We have been struggling to get Robert to wear his patch since his surgery. So yesterday when it was patch time he stomped his foot and said, "I hate that stinkin, stupid, dumb patch!!!"

Well. . . I think I would feel the same way.

What a day!

As I am herding the kids out the door for church this morning I realize there is cereal dumped out all over the couch, Robert tells me he has a poopy diaper, and William rans smack into the partly open garage door (I think he must have been running with his eyes closed or something!). Then to top it off as we are about to pull out of the driveway I shut the garage door and somehow it hits the bucket of briquettes and rock salt and sends it flying all over the driveway. AHHHHH! I wanted to scream! Wait, I think maybe I did scream!

Then of course we get to Sacrament meeting only to have 3 kids fighting for my lap and Robert and William both crying. ARGHHHH! Sometimes I really just wish I could hide under the pew. And is it wrong to get up to bear your testimony only to get a break from your kids?

Here is a cuter moment of the day. William has turned into quite the tatoo artist.

A Funeral

The girls found a dead worm an the sidewalk and thought he deserved a proper funeral. It reminds me of a certain butterfly funeral a few years ago. Anna and Lahna come across as such animal lovers, but if you ask them how they like their steaks they will tell you, "bloody".

Goodbye!

You may remember this ugly thing from a previous post. It has been sitting in our garage for a few months and we are pleased to announce that it has finally found a new home. Hip Hip Hooray!
