just a little whining

This kid is gosh darn cute, I know, but keeping up with his eye needs (among everything else) is giving me a headache...a really big headache. Oh how I miss the solobambinis! They made my life so much easier. I don't even care how expensive they were. If it were an option I would by them again in a heartbeat but since it's not maybe it's time for some really sturdy sports frames, with like 5 back-up pair. Okay, maybe that would be a little excessive, but I am really tired of this. Until then though I have got to get these ones fixed...this is NOT the way bifocals for kids should be done.

new to us couch and loveseat

We finally had enough of our old, holey, squashed, and beaten up couches and started looking on craigslist for some "new" ones.

I love them, but I'm not sure how practical they really are. I have to admit I am a little scared to see what they look like in a couple of years...or maybe months.

Scooby-Doo Soccer Crew ends on a high!

Robert had his last soccer game and team party. He played better in this game than he did all season. He actually ran for the ball and kicked it a few times rather than tickling the other team or running off the field to chase a bird! Oh, the laughs we had!

We will enjoy having our Saturday's back, but Robert will really miss his soccer friends! He is already talking about next season!

Look who's a big boy!

I am so excited to say that we are completely DONE with diapers!!! And just as excited that William was a breeze to potty train. You could hardly even call it potty training, which is really good because after Robert I needed an easy one.

With all of our kids before we begin potty training we take them to the store to pick out their first package of underwear, some potty treats, and a grand prize (under $15 that is)! This is what William picked out and after a week with no accidents and a completed sticker chart he claimed his prize! Doesn't he look proud!

Random school stuff

Robert did our Calendar for November all by himself!

Anna and Alahna made a poster map of Ancient Greece!

and I think I'm all caught up...just in time for the Holidays!

Mt. Vesuvius

We learned about Pompeii and then built our own Mt. Vesuvius to erupt.  Everyone had fun with the eruption but William. It may have had something to do with his mickey mouse figure being in the lava path! (not pictured!)

Meeting Apollo

One of the dad's in our group came to our Parthenon as Apollo. He brought along his twin Artemis, aka his daughter, and his lyre and sun chariot. He was a riot. He told the kids all about his adventures and even gave them rides in his chariot... and who knew that those Greek gods were so full of themselves!

Apollo gave each of the heros a wooden tablet to write on....he said there is a clay shortage on Mt. Olympus...Robert used his to make a chart to keep track of how many kids rode on the chariot. He lost interest after about 7 though!

Meeting Paul Revere

A family in our school group set up a meeting with Paul Revere. This guy was amazing! I could have listened to him all day! (You might recognize him from some old westerns with Roy Rogers)

He told us all about his midnight ride and being a silversmith! He even showed us the gun that he made that could be used as a dagger!

Marching thru History

In October we went to the Marching thru History Exposition. We saw some war reenactments from the revolutionary war and the civil war and walked through several military camps to see what life was like then. Our favorites were the pirates and the Romans, no surprises there!

Robert was watching me work on pictures and said, "We HAVE to go there again next year!" I agree!

Cloudy with a chance of... laughter

This weekend David brought home his projector and we had a movie night, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I thought the kids might bust a gut they were laughing so hard!

Halloween

From left to right: Anna, Robert, Anna again, William, Alahna
Everyone except William carved their own this year.

Pumpkin is always a Halloween favorite and eating the roasted pumpkin seeds is my favorite!

And finally, pictures in their costumes! These are the costumes they created for our school opening day in the "Parthenon". We spent so much time on them they also became our Halloween costumes which made Halloween easy!
Alahna-daughter of Poseidon who was kidnapped by Hades, then rescued and raised by the amazon queen Hypolite. (that's her story and she's stickin' to it!)

Anna- daughter of Zeus and hunter of Artemis. She was given the gift of animal language after defeating a mighty python.

Robert- son of Hermes who has the gift of "speedy flying"!

William- also a son a Hermes who has the gift of cuteness!

Because Halloween was on Sunday this year and we don't live in a place that does Saturday trick or treating we just did trunk or treating at church. I have not missed all the candy and I think we had enough fun on Sunday doing family activities that the kids didn't miss it either.
